Google Classroom – Creating Material

You can post resource materials to the Classwork page which could be used by students to assist them with their work. Like other types of posts on the Classwork page, materials can be organized by topic, reordered, and scheduled to post later. Here is a guide on how to use this feature …


Start out by visiting your Google Classroom page for your class, and click on ‘Classwork’ at the top …

Once there, press on the ‘Create’ button, and click on ‘Material’ …

You can add the title of the resource you are providing …

A description of what the resource is can also be added here …

This is where you can attach/upload the resource you would like the student to access. Clicking on ‘Add’ will allow you to upload resources from your Google Drive, adding in a URL to a webpage, attaching a local file from your computer, such as a Word Document, or you can insert a video from YouTube …

Clicking on ‘Create’ will allow you to create resources from within this screen using one of Google’s online editors, such as Google Docs. Any changes made to these will be automatically saved in your Google Drive …

On the right hand side, clicking on ‘All students’ will allow you to select who you would like to be able to view/access the provided resources …

You can click on ‘Post’ on the top right hand corner to post the materials, or by pressing on the dropdown arrow next to it, you can choose whether to schedule a time for the material to be posted, save as a draft, or discard the post …

Once posted, you will be redirected back to your classwork feed. Click on your recently created material to expand it …

Clicking on ‘View material’ will allow you to view class comments and respond to them accordingly …

Clicking on the three vertical dots on the top right hand side of this window will allow you to either edit the material, or delete it …
