Today, Friday 19th March, marks Red Nose Day which means only one thing at Pinewood.. lots of ‘Red’ and raising money for charity! Students and Staff got in the mood by coming into school dressing up in something red.
Year group bubbles held sales, giving the Pinewood School community an opportunity to purchase something for a good cause. Items on sale included but were not limited to… Red Noses, individually wrapped ‘COVID’ safe cupcakes, bobble headbands and badges!
You can see some of the photos from the day below. A huge Pinewood thank you to Ms Alfieri and to everyone involved for arranging such a great day doing something ‘funny for money’.
Daniele in 11T and his sisters have taken part in a YouTube video to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day! The video has been made by the charity ‘Wouldn’t Change A Thing’, who strive to create a world where negative perceptions of Down syndrome are a thing of the past. We are all very proud of Daniele and hope you enjoy this video as much as we did! Please show your support by sharing this fantastic video and by wearing your odd socks on World Down Syndrome Day, the 21st March!

Our headteacher, Mr McGachen, asked our students what they feel about being back in school.
“School! I love school!”
“Scared and nervous. So far it’s been alright.”
“I felt a little bit anxious being back at school, I feel I am not prepared. A little happy and a little sad. I need to get used to the flow of lessons.”
“I am actually really happy to be here. It’s really good to be back at school, being with my friends.”
“Lockdown hasn’t been easy doing the live lessons. I am really happy for being with the teachers and TA”.
“I feel so alive!”
“Happy as a butterfly!”
Favourite part of being back?
“Playing with my friends”.
“Cooking with my friends”
“Being outside with my friends!”
What about work? – “Oh yeah, that too!” 😃
Welcome back, we missed you!
Today, the 4th March was World Book Day at Pinewood! Both Students and Staff took part in the day’s events by dressing up as their favourite book characters, or someone from Roald Dahl’s Book, the Twits!
Throughout the week Students have been taking part in themed English lessons around ‘The Twits’ and were able to enjoy a masked Virtual reading of the book with new chapters released daily. The full playlist can be found on our YouTube channel. A huge thank you to Ms Jones, Ms Hathaway and Mr Goss for organising such a fantastic week. Students were also given the opportunity to decorate their own beards and create their own Nasty Menu!
For World Book Day this year, Pinewood Staff read out ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl. You can see all 4 parts on the playlist below!
Be sure to keep an eye out for pictures from our school community later on!
