Every year we have a Summer Variety show which allows Students to demonstrate their various talents to all staff, peers, and the Pinewood School Community. However, this year will be slightly different; and we will be doing this virtually (still having as much fun as ever)!
All funds raised will be going to the school to help purchase new creative equipment, which will be distributed throughout the school. Thank you, as always, for your continued support; and we hope you enjoy the show! If you are able to make a contribution, no matter how big or small, you can do so by visiting this website: https://gofund.me/e307bea5
8T’s Chicks are starting to lose their ‘chick fuzz!’ Since hatching on Monday 7th June they’re nearly 4 weeks old. When the chickens reach 18 weeks they will start to lay their own blue eggs.
The chicks are: Running, jumping, scratching, flapping, flying, and making lots of mess! We have to hold and stroke them very gently as they’re still small. Some of our learners are getting really confident handling the birds. The dark ones are the girls (hens) and the lighter ones are the boys (cockerels). We’re soon going to be looking for homes for our chickens. If you think you have space for a feathered friend or a breeding pair look out for our adoption letter! See some pictures, below:
As a part of their Pinewood Outdoors lessons, 8T have been out and about exploring local parks. Last Wednesday they went to Hartham Park in Hertford and managed to find a jungle gym and playground! Take a look at what they got up to, below!
As some of you may know, we have a new ‘Autism Pod’ at Pinewood which Ms Muirhead and her team worked very hard to set up.
Ms Muirhead, Mr Buchan, Ms Partridge, and Ms Crabb have been working with a group of students to get them more confident with their cooperative play. This group of students were struggling a couple of months ago to play and sit together at the same table. However, now they are playing a Maths fishing game together!
For those who unfortunately cannot join us for the Year 11 Leavers Assembly on Thursday 24th June at 9:30am, you can watch it live on our Facebook page, here!
7P have been very busy becoming Archaeologists / Palaeontologists as a part of their History topic for this term, ‘Movers and Shakers’. They have been learning and looking into the life of Mary Anning and discovering bones and fossils. Take a look at some of their hard work, below!
June 21st marks World Music Day – and at Pinewood, we were sure to honour this whilst ensuring COVID-19 guidelines were adhered to! Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side today so we were unable to host the event outside as intended!
Ms Hathaway has spent the day with different year groups per lesson teaching them how to play the African Drums – along with getting them up and dancing! Students and Staff both got involved, dressing up as their favourite artists (we love the hair do Mr Uncle!) and thoroughly enjoyed the day! See some of the photos below!
