5:30pm – Jan 31, 2013 – End of second day @calvertexmoor (from Adrian Lloyd)
Thursday – our final day of activities, and another good one. Today was all about putting what had been learned over the course of the week on the horses into practice.
Today the group split into two again, and at either end of the day took part in a fun filled yet competitive gymkhana – with the other half of the group awarding their peers points out of 10!
At lunchtime the groups switched, and between them completed a wonderful tissue paper collage of a horse – measuring about 6′ x 4′! We’re looking forward to being able to display this back at school for all to see.
Just before bed we were lucky to enjoy a visiting magician for an hour – who really performed some fantastic feats of magic that had all the pupils wondering how the tricks were possible.
Anyway – off to bed ready for the long journey back home – but not before spending a few hours trying to work out which clothes belong to which pupil and which bag they should be packed in!
What a brilliant week – and we hope our first effort at trip blogging has worked well for you? Comments welcome!
5:30pm – Jan 30, 2013 – End of second day @calvertexmoor (from Adrian Lloyd)
Another really good day today! All of the group got well involved in some stable management at various stages of the day and from there on moved to some horse agility work.
For the other half of the day we drove about half an hour to a little village called Chittlehampton and enjoyed a fantastic wagon ride provided by two famous horses that appeared on Countryfile a while ago.
A short dip in the pool was followed by another yummy dinner – chicken tikka masala, rice, chips, naan bread, garlic bread, lasagne, fruit whip and sticky toffee pudding! Not quite sure what the highlight of the day was!
We’re currently enjoying a brilliant visit from Exmoor Zoo and have already had fun with bearded dragons and snake skins.
Most of the children are already shattered – so it’ll be straight to bed once the animals have gone.
More tomorrow evening!
Bye for now.
5:30pm – Jan 29, 2013 – End of first full day @calvertexmoor (from Adrian Lloyd)
We all arrived safely after a good journey yesterday, through the howling wind and torrential rain!
The group all had a great day today even with the wettest and windiest Exmoor weather imaginable. We enjoyed a good range of activities today including some riding, some stable management, some archery, some climbing and lots of other games!
Three hot meals a day is a bit much for some and I don’t suppose any weight will be lost over the course of the week.
Bingo tonight and then early bed for all!
